Another Day, Another Vibe

Another Day, Another Vibe

Exploring the future of coding in the AI era, the rise of "AI slop", and the challenges of standing out in an increasingly competitive SaaS landscape.

So, without making my entire blog post about vibe coding, I want to focus on the future for a moment. I want to take all my Gen Z peeps back to The Incredibles, to a line from the movie: "When everyone is super, no one will be." Without going into the plot, the concept is the same if we apply it to vibe coding or coding in general.

"If everyone can code, no one will." I'm not saying this is true. In fact, I believe that with the rise of AI and coding tools, we as developers will become efficient machines, able to create 100x more than we could in the past. Developers who truly understand how to code will also be able to use AI to produce even more powerful results.

What I'm really referring to is the rise of "AI slop", the flood of content and tools being created with less and less real impact. The number of AI products and services uploaded daily to Product Hunt is insanely high right now, to the point of being overwhelming. I like to think the apps I've been building over the last few months are unique in their own way, but Product Hunt is on another level when you see how many projects are simply copies or remakes of what others have already done.

When it comes to AI SaaS, it feels like a never ending stream of ideas and software being launched. But at the end of the day, are there really enough potential users out there? And how do you actually tell people about your service?

The truth is, nobody really knows those answers yet. Many companies are scrambling to figure out the new world of AI SEO and how to advertise through ChatGPT and similar platforms. Ultimately, the way people search is changing, and the same goes for the way we as founders share our products.

The future, while clouded with AI generated code and an increasingly competitive SaaS landscape, is still bright. It's bright because it challenges us to discover how we can do better as a generation and to create products and services that people genuinely love using.

See you again next week!
